I'm a computer professional residing in the city of Hattiesburg, MS. I've maintained a variety of skills and positions throughout my career and helped countless individuals on their way to becoming computer proficient. My first break came in the form of a job with Sunbeam-Oster Household Products, manufacturers of fine blenders, toasters, and electric blankets used the world over. My position was a temporary job as a "Corporate Quality Control Auditor." I spent most of my days dropping toasters from varying heights then testing to see if they would still make delicious brown toast. I gathered the data from these various stress tests and compiled it into reports which were used to gauge the quality of the products our foreign suppliers were sending us. Later I would work in a small town call center which offered support for Gateway brand computers. Throughout my time there I learned a wealth of customer service practices and helped pioneer some of the procedures used to resolve customer issues. I performed multiple duties from phone support representative to mid-level team coach and trainer. I soon moved on to a position with Video King Gaming Entertainment, a small company that manufacturers and maintains electronic equipment used to play bingo. I traveled from east to west coast and from the bottom of Texas to the frozen north of Canada to install, configure, repair, and maintain our equipment. I spent a lot of time around Savannah, GA and Richmond, VA. In April of 2008, I started work at a small computer store in Hattiesburg. Ultimately I was responsible for the day to day operations of our repair depot as well as the processes used to diagnose and repair any system brought to us. It was during this time that I acquired my CompTIA A+ Depot Technician certification, became an Apple Certified Mac Tech, and was awarded the title of iLife Certified Associate. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and our location was closed. I was forced to move on. June of 2010 found me once again in the high pressure world of electronic bingo as an Account Executive. This time I found myself in a slightly warmer setting as the majority of my territory was along the Florida Panhandle. I spent days at a time around the Pensacola area maintaining handheld player units, repairing touchscreen computers, and collecting data for reports. When I wasn't driving around Florida maintaining our presence, I could usually be found in the Northlake area of Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL or somewhere on the road in-between. March of 2011 brought me to the doorstep of one of the largest broadband providers for our state. I currently troubleshoot everything from DSL to T1 to VoIP while also providing Managed IT services to medical facilities. The team I work with is a top notch group that helps maintain multiple e-mail servers, virtual servers for our web-hosting platform, customer relations, and more. I have been provided the ability to greatly broaden my technical abilities while here and I have added to my list of certifications including a variety of certifications from our main supplier of inter-networking devices, Adtran. I am currently studying for my CompTIA HIT+, CCENT, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, and CompTIA Network+. I hope to complete the Healthcare Information Technology+ exam within the next three months and work my way through them from there. I hope to have enough certifications and acronyms to completely fill a business card within a year. That's me, that's what I do. I help people understand technology. If you find yourself in a tight spot and need a hand, drop me a line. I'll be happy to help. -Ryan |
